The New Norm: Digitised Signatures

Over the last decade, and particularly during the pandemic, documents have become more likely to arrive in an email or as downloads rather than on physical paper. If you need to send a signed document back to someone, it’s easy to print and sign it beforehand. What if you need to send it back via email or another online method?

Enter digital signatures.  In Malaysia, they’re governed by the Digital Signature Act (DSA) 1997 which states that digital signatures that a document signed with digital signature in accordance with the DSA shall be as legally binding as a document signed with handwritten signature.

That being said, there are a couple of aspects of digital signatures that can cause problems. The first is reviewing the document later on. If you use a tool any email marketing tool (e.g. Mailcxxxx) or one of the many other services that attach digital signatures to outgoing mailings, no matter how securely you handle your files, they can be easily compromised for later review. 

Other services , such as Google Drive do not allow their servers to be accessed by unauthorised users. You could request via these services to send your data via a secure email attachment instead of through an insecure server connection, though they’re unlikely to do so without good reason.

How to create cloud signing with SigningCloud
